A mi madre (en ingles)

Letra de Pedro Palacios
Traducción de Eduardo Bianchi

With the friends attracted by my gold
I spent eager hours
and to the powerful influx of my pocket
everybody enjoyed splendid luxury
but not my mother,

Poor mother! I was forgetting her
when I slept in the hands of vice
nobody lacked my affection
but my mother…

Today, near death, torn by tears!
I exclaim in pain, it is the end,
seeing the sorrow of my sore chest
everybody walks away from my bed
but not my mother!

And now, near my last breath
everybody is going away *
I look around
sadly I see nobody
but my mother!

* I took some liberty translating this line, which in
one version is: todos se alejan por lo que hay en mí
and in another: nadie se acuerda por mi mal de mí
