A lo megata (en ingles)

Letra de Luis Alposta

Megata the baron, in the year ’20
boarded a steamship headed to Paris
and there, between tangos and the «dolce far niente»
the young Japanese became a dancer
Slim and elegant, like a milonguero
dressing like a duke, though only a baron
danced with Pizarro, and one spring
packed the records and returned to Japan

And so he carried the tango
to the land of Nippon
where for free
he taught dancing
It’s said that Megata
never charged a yen
for the love of tango
and for being a gentleman

He taught not only «cortes» and «quebradas»
he also gave lessons on honor and pride
he observed from dawn to dusk
he was an airplane pilot and more
perhaps now that he is present here
while a Sony plays «Chique»
somebody there in Tokyo, with elegance
dances Megata style without knowing him.
